Hello, and welcome to my world of counselling and self-discovery. Iβm Suzanne, a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor with a deep passion for holding space for others as they reconnect with their authentic selves.
I specialise in a Psycho-Spiritual approach that honours the connection between mind, body, and spirit, drawing from various Humanistic therapeutic models. While this can include exploring deeper, more spiritual aspects of self, itβs always guided by your comfort and interest. There is never any expectation to explore this side of your journey unless it genuinely resonates with you.

My journey as a counsellor has been profoundly shaped by humanistic and person-centred approaches. The powerful metaphor of Self-Actualisation described by Carl Rogers β like a potato in a dark shed, sending its roots toward a crack of light β deeply resonated with me. It ignited my passion for supporting others in discovering their own inner potential for growth, healing, and self-love. I believe each of us has this quiet, persistent strength within, even in the darkest of times.
During my studies at Sweet Track Counselling/Education in Glastonbury, we were held and encouraged to travel inwards using all of the tools we were learning. Through this, I underwent a personal transformation, much like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. Here, I learned to embrace all aspects of myself, nurturing the connection between mind, body, and spirit and a deeper alignment with my authentic self
So when it came to naming my Counselling Practice, I wanted a name that captured the essence of transformation and empowerment. The image of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly felt like the perfect symbol β a reminder of the strength, potential, and beauty that can arise from even the most challenging times. It captured the essence of my journey: opening my heart, rediscovering my inner light, and aligning with my true self.
About Me / My Journey
πΏ Finding My Path πΏ
π± Honouring the Journey π±
My passion for counselling was kindled early in life, and despite life's twists and turns, I persevered. Thanks to a friend's unwavering encouragement, I embarked on this transformative journey. Today, I consider my work a vocation, creating a safe and nurturing space for individuals to explore and embrace their unique paths to healing.
I invite you to join me on this journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Together, we can explore the landscapes of your inner world, gently untangle what feels heavy, and reconnect with the unique light within you. Whether you seek to find your grounding, discover your voice, awaken a deeper sense of purpose or a more spiritual journey, you are always welcome here. You do not have to walk this path alone.
Professional Background and Experience
π± Finding My Purpose π±
When I reflect on my journey as a counsellor, Iβm deeply grateful for the diverse experiences that have shaped my practice and my understanding of human resilience. I have had the privilege of working in a range of challenging and rewarding roles, each of which has enriched my empathy, deepened my compassion, and broadened my perspective on the many ways people heal.
In addition to my Level 4 Diploma, I had the privilege of working for three years at a local charity, supporting adults facing severe mental health challenges, homelessness, and addiction. I was part of the Housing First program, a client-lead initiative that houses and empowers individuals to choose the support they need. Building trust with clients who had lost faith in others was an incredible honour and reinforced my commitment to this field.
My dedication to trauma-informed work grew during this time, further deepening my understanding of human systems and resilience.
I've also spent time as an Independent Mental Health Advocate (IMHA), working across multiple hospitals and clients within the community. This role gave me invaluable experience in supporting individuals with complex mental health needs and navigating challenging care systems.
I now work part-time at Iron Mill College, a counselling college with sites in Exeter and Poole, where I support the low-cost counselling service for counsellors in training. This role allows me to give back to the profession by helping the next generation of therapists develop their skills and confidence.
π± Deepening My Practice π±
I am an accredited member of the NCPS (MNCPS, Acc.), a registered member of the BACP (MBACP), and the Complementary Medical Association (MCMA). I am also affiliated with The Counsellors Collective South West, who have been a source of support since my training days.
I am committed to upholding the highest standards in my practice. This means continually expanding my skills and insights through ongoing professional development (CPD), attending regular supervision, and staying connected to a supportive network of fellow therapists. These practices ensure that I can provide the most thoughtful, compassionate, and ethically grounded support to those who entrust me with their stories.
